Ethiopian Airlines took charge of the first of the five reconfigured Bombardier Q-400 aircraft it has on order last week.

Ethiopian is the first airline to take charge of the reconfigured aircraft which takes into account a number of innovations based on feedback from customers.

The new innovations include 7 business class and 60 economy class seats with a second lavatory for the exclusive use of business class passengers.  The aircraft will have reclining seats and a hot galley to enable the service of hot meals en route.

The Q 400 also has luggage capacity with lower fuel consumption and emission.

The Ministry of Industry, Ethiopia allocated 5130 hectares of land for industrial zones in the last six months.The industrial sites will be dispersed across Dire Dawa, Amhara, Southern and Somali regional states.

700 hectares of the land allocated for industrial use is to be found in the Borena area of Dire Dawa while 350 hectares were allocated in Shinele in Somali Regional State.

1123 hectares are targeted for industry in Kombolcha city in the Amhara Regional State and the capital of the Southern Regional State Hawassa allocated 776 hectares.

The Ethiopian government has allocated Birr 45 billion to implement ten new initiatives aimed at strengthening the mining sector and increasing foreign currency earnings, the Ministry of Mines announced.

Ethiopia’s government is said to have allocated 1,600 megawatt for industrial parks found in its territory. This is in the aim of industrializing Ethiopia and in the long run to make the nation Africa’s light manufacturing hub.

Today, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) announced that its Board of Governors has adopted resolutions approving 13 applicants to join the Bank, bringing the Bank’s total approved membership to 70. This is the first time AIIB has welcomed new prospective members to the Bank since its inception. The approved applicants include five regional and eight non-regional prospective members.
