Telecom operators operating all over Africa, such as MTN, Orange and Vodacom are now eager to enter the Ethiopian telecom market, TMT Finance reports.

TeleTv, a newly launched entertainment platform, has contributed USD 25 million to the Ethiopian economy within its first four months of operation, according to Besufekad Getachew, Founder and CEO of Eaglelion.

Tendaho Sugar Factory is set to commence production January 2014, Walta Information Center reported citing the Ethiopian Sugar Corporation.

About 85 percent of construction of the first phase of the factory has been completed, Corporation’s Communication Director, Zemedkun Tekle, told Walta today.

Tendaho Sugar Factory would begin test production in five months, according to the Ethiopian Sugar Corporation.

Tendaho Sugar Factory, designed to produce over 619 thousand tons of sugar annually on 50 thousand hectares of land is under construction in Afar Regional State of Ethiopia.

Tendaho Sugar factory is expected to put Ethiopia in the number one place for sugar cane crushing capacity when it becomes fully operational according to Million Moges Deputy Manager for the project.

The project established in Afar Regional State at a cost of 11.8 billion birr has the capacity to crush 26,000 tons of sugar daily when fully operational said Million. The factory will be able to crush 13,000 tons of sugar cane in the first phase of the project he noted.
