Huajian Group, one of the largest Chinese shoe manufacturers, is on the path to build light international industrial city in Ethiopia, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology disclosed.
Huajian Group, a Chinese shoe manufacturer, is going to invest U.S $ 2.2 Billion in Ethiopia to build an Industrial Zone of its own. The industrial zone is going to be around Lebu area, South Western outskirts of Addis Ababa.
Huajian, one of the largest shoe exporters in China, is planning a multi-million-dollar factory expansion in Ethiopia to benefit from preferential trade tariffs and lower labor costs.
The company, which makes women shoes for global brands such as, Tommy Hilfiger, Guess, Naturalizer, Clarkes and others opened its factory at a purpose-built industrial zone on the outskirts of Addis Ababa a year ago.
Chinese telecom giant Huawei announced winners of the Sixth Global ICT Competition in Ethiopia it funded. Conducted with the theme "Connection, Glory, Future," over a thousand participants from all over Ethiopia have taken part in the competition.
