Huajian Group, one of the largest Chinese shoe manufacturers, is on the path to build light international industrial city in Ethiopia, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology disclosed.

Jemal Beker, Ethiopian Minister of Innovation and Technology, discussed on ways of working together with the company for the said purpose with a team from Huajian Group led by Zhang Huarong, president of the company.

Their discussion also encompassed points such as how to implement Ethiopian government’s import substitution program and supply locally manufactured technologies to the African market. They also conferred on ways to build capacity of Ethiopians working in manufacturing industries.

Jemal once again reaffirmed the government’s readiness to provide support for the company’s efforts, applauding the interest Chinese companies are showing in Ethiopia.

Huajian Group has built in industrial zone of its own in Ethiopia back in 2014, investing $2.2 billion.
