Gridworks, a British government-owned investor focused on Africa’s electricity networks, has signed agreements to develop and invest in electricity transmission projects in Ethiopia valued at around USD 400 million.

Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew has announced that the groundbreaking ceremony for a new mega airport in Bishoftu will be held in early December 2025. The planned airport is designed to reshape Ethiopia’s aviation sector and strengthen its position as a major hub for international travel.
The growth of deposits in private banks, in Ethiopia, is expected to decline said a study conducted by Access Capital. Increase in deposits is to lower to 24% in 2012 from the 36% registered in 2011 according to the research.
The slow down is a reflection of more stringent monetary policies and stronger competition from widely expanding state banks noted the study.
Guang Dong province, China’s prominent economic and trade hub is interested in strengthening its trade and investment ties with Ethiopia, provincial authorities said.
