The Expansion project on the Fincha Sugar Factory intended to double the production of the factory has been completed.

The 4.5 billion birr expansion project is expected to raise the production capacity of the factory from 1.1 million quintals per annum to 2.7 million quintals of production every year according to Girma Wayu, Manager of the factory.

The expansion will also increase the production of ethanol at the factory to 20 million liters every year from just eight million liters at present he noted.

Export from the 3 industrial parks already operating in Ethiopia in the last fiscal year has been reported to be 248 million USD. These parks are Hawassa, Bole Lemi and Eastern Zone.

Ethiopia has earned  US$111.1 million from the export of leather products over the past eleven months of the current Ethiopian Fiscal year, according to the Leather and Industry Development Institute (LIDI).

Of the total revenue, nearly 92 million USD was obtained from export of finished leather products, Birhanu Serjebo, corporate communication director with the Institute indicated.

The Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (ECCSA) launched this week a new exporter’s guide as part of its business development and trade facilitation efforts to maximize the benefits of the country from the sector.

Eyesuswork Zafu, president of the chamber, said that the guide would be a useful partner to all exporters in Ethiopia.
