Ethiopia’s Omo Kuraz Sugar Factory II to Go Operational by 2017

Ethiopia’s Omo Kuraz Sugar Factory II is planned to go operational by 2017, according to the report of Walta Information Center (WIC).

Following the agreement made with Complant, Chinese Construction Company, Kassa Tesfaye, General Manager of Omo Kuraz Sugar Factory I told WIC the construction of Omo Kuraz project is under going to become operational by 2017 as scheduled.

Meanwhile, sugarcane cultivation is being grown aside the construction project, according to Kassa. The sugar plantation covers 11,500 hectares of land.

Agreements have been signed with Chinese and Indian construction companies for the construction of Omo Kuraz Sugar Factories 4 and 5, it was indicated.

The five Omo Kuraz Sugar Factories could create job opportunities for 500,000 people.
