Compressed Earth Block (CEB), a new way of making block was introduced to the Ethiopia at a workshop on alternative construction materials organized by the American Cement Institute (ACI) Ethiopian Chapter on April 4, 2013 at the Hilton Hotel.
Compressed Earth Block is said to be made of different type of materials. The material is not usually favored by constructors because it is thought that it is not water resistant.Computerized vehicle inspections and technical investigation are to begin in Ethiopia next week. It is expected that the new form of inspections will enhance transport service and prevent deaths and material damage caused by vehicular accidents.
The new system will better inspect the technical performance of a vehicle and its assorted parts according to Kasahun Hailemariam, Director-General of the Ethiopian Transport Authority.
The new system will also eliminate the subjective and inconsistent manual inspection system that was previously in place and associated corrupt practices explained Kasahun.
The 150 shops made available for bidding at the Lideta site of the Addis Ababa condominium housing projects have attracted large amount of attention.
More than 14 thousand individual bids were received for the shop space with interest seen from a diverse range of parties including insurance companies and banks.

Condominium shops in Lideta area of Addis Ababa sold for a record amount according to the city Housing Development Projects Bureau. The municipality earned 284.8 million birr from the sale of the condominium shops that sold more than eight times the floor price.
The Housing Development Projects Bureau received 14 thousand bids for the 150 shops it had on offer and announced 149 successful bids.
The successful bidders will pay 50 percent of the agreed upon sum upfront and the balance over a period of five years through the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia.Condominium houses which are being constructed in different parts of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, will obtain solar energy starting from this Ethiopian fiscal year, according to Fana Broadcasting Corporate.
