City Administration to Hand Over 38,000 Condos in Early 2008 EC

The Addis Ababa Housing Development Administration Agency is preparing to issue title deeds for 156,430 kebele houses from 174,000 houses in Ethiopia’s capital, according to Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC).
The Addis Ababa City administration received a loan of 4.4 billion birr from the commercial Bank of Ethiopia for its housing development project. The money is earmarked for the construction of more than 40,000 condominiums this year.
The loan agreement was signed between the bank and the housing development project office on Sept 27. The loan from the commercial bank needs to be paid off in the fourth year after the agreement was signed with six per cent interest, according to Befekadu. The agreement allows the first year for construction and extends a further two years as a grace period he said.
The Addis Ababa City Administration's Credit & Small Enterprises Development Agency and Addis Credit and Saving S.C are to jointly establish a construction machinery rental enterprise, Fortune reported.
The new enterprise under formation with 500 million Ethiopian birr capital is intended to lease machinery to the city's micro & small enterprises.
The Addis Ababa City Administration, Housing Development and Administration Agency announced the winners of the 8th round condominium houses beneficiaries on 20 March 2013.
