Ethiopia: Public Enterprises' Assets Soar to Birr 1.7 Trillion

Public Enterprises Holdings and Administration Agency announced that the asset of Ethiopian public enterprises surpassed Birr one trillion. The enterprises are engaged in various businesses and cover 10% of the country’s nominal GDP.
The administration of six public enterprises and the organizations’ labor unions signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on May 6, 2015 for work place cooperation and safe working environment, Ethiopian News Agency reported.
Public Procurement and Property Authority announced that it was working towards modernizing its services. During a workshop on private business which was organized in collaboration with the World Bank, the Authority’s Director Haji Ibsa revealed that his office was in the process of revising laws and regulations. He also stated that the Authority was working with the World Bank and other stakeholders to upgrade the finance system.
Addis Ababa Transport Bureau said that it will adjust public transport tariff following the increase in fuel prices this month, and announce it in a few days.
