Indian Companies Negotiating to Book Hall Two of Exhibition Center

The Indian Trade Promotion Organization is to book one pavilion of the the Addis Abeba Exhibition Center, for the forthcoming 18th Addis Abeba Chamber of Commerce & Sectoral Association (AACCSA) International Trade Fair.

The Indian Trade Promotion Organization is still in negotiation with the AACCSA and both parties expect to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in August, Gashaw Abate, trade investment promotion director at the AACCSA, told Fortune.

“Since the number of companies attending the exhibition from India is increasing every year, we should have separate space,” Parmod Rai Sood, manager of the Indian Trade Promotion Organization told Fortune. Add a comment Add a comment

ESLSE Concluded Agreement with Shipping Agents

Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise concluded agreement with 40 shipping agents drawn from 31 countries to facilitate the import-export trade of the country.

During the signing ceremony, the enterprises Deputy Director General, Chief Alemu Ambaye stressed the importance of working in cooperation with shipping agents for efficient import-export trade.

Ethiopia's Benefit under the EU's Preference Scheme Extended

Ethiopian producers and companies are set to increase their exports to the European Union as a result of a new change in the Generalized System of Preference agreement scheduled to take effect in January 2014.

The changes made to the new GSP will benefit Ethiopia by avoiding its competitors which previously used to benefit under the GSP scheme.

Ines Escudero Sanchez, Director General for Trade at the European Union, informed journalists at a press briefing held at the premises of the European Union (EU) in Addis Ababa on Monday, February 25, that the Generalized System of Preference agreement has been reviewed and the changes will take effect as of 1st of January, 2014.

Ethiopia's Shipping Enterprise Exempted Clients from Storage Fees

The Ethiopian Shipping and Logistic Services Enterprise (ESLSE) announced that it has exempted its clients from paying charges for storage and demurrage of their imported containers.

According to the announcement, the enterprise will relieve its customers from demurrage and storage fees for containers shipped through the multi-modal transport scheme and reached the Port of Djibouti before July 1, 2012.

Consorzio Toscana to Import Leather Products from Ethiopia

Consorzio Toscana Shoe Components, an Italian Shoe machinery, footwear components and accessories manufacturer is planning to procure garment and leather products amounting to £5 million from Ethiopian leather products manufacturers.
