Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise concluded agreement with 40 shipping agents drawn from 31 countries to facilitate the import-export trade of the country.
During the signing ceremony, the enterprises Deputy Director General, Chief Alemu Ambaye stressed the importance of working in cooperation with shipping agents for efficient import-export trade.
The agreement signed between the enterprise and the shipping agents is to strengthen its capacity and enhance trade relations between the two parties, Chief Alemu added.
The Enterprise has ordered nine ships at a total cost of USD 324 million. The Chinese Exim Bank has financed 80 per cent of the cost, the remaining amount is covered by the Ethiopian Government. The Enterprise has received four ships, two ships are already in use.
