The World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) welcomed the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) as its official member. EIC stated that it would proactively engage with WAIPA and its member states in investment promotion, facilitation, aftercare, and advocacy works.

Addis Ababa is ready to host a trade fair and conference on the trade and investment relations between German and Africa this week. Participants of this three-day trade fair and conference which will be held between March 2 and 4 will discuss ways to develop trade relations between Germany and Africa.

Amhara Industry Parks Development Corporation leased 35.58 hectares of developed land to eight companies in Bure Integrated Agro Processing Industrial Park (IAIP). The companies have a collective capital of Birr 5.4 billion and are expected to employ 1,989 citizens.

The African Electronic Trade Group, a multi-stakeholder group which works to implement e-empowerments with a view to developing electronic trade in Africa, is negotiating with the Ethiopian Government to open its East Africa Headquarters in Addis Ababa.

Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority announced that Ethiopia gained USD 702 million in the past seven months by exporting 126,649 tons of coffee. The revenue is short of USD 165 from the initial target which aimed to collect USD 867 million from 181,323 tons of coffee export.

Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) and Hijra Bank signed an agreement to partner on payment service systems. Hijra has become ECX’s 20th payment system partner. ECX is working to create modern and reliable payment system with a view to building a swift and advanced payment system. It also aims to make the payment system more accessible to traders including farmers, sellers, and buyers.

The Ethiopian Investment Commission and East African Holding have reached an agreement on an industrial park which will be built by East African in Bishoftu. The parties signed the agreement on February 24, 2023.
