Choke Mountains Eco Village has received its award from United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for making the list of Best Tourism Villages (BTV) of 2022. Seleshi Girma, State Minster of Tourism, and representatives from the village received the award in Alula city, Saudi Arabia, from the hands of UNWTO’s Secretary General during the award ceremony which was held on February 27.

Bole Lemi Industrial Park saved Birr 2 billion by producing goods which substituted import products. Among the park’s manufacturing companies, Soufflet Malt and BGI, a Chinese company, take the lion’s share in the production of import substituting products. Soufflet’s malt production has fully substituted import malt while BGI’s Covid-19 testing kits have saved the country from spending foreign currency on foreign made testing products.

Ethiopian Airlines, the largest network operating carrier in Africa, announced that it had finalized preparations to launch direct flights to Karachi, Pakistan as of 1 May 2023. Ethiopian first served Karachi from July 1966 to December 1971, and resumed the service from June 1993 until July 2004.

The 8th Hortiflora International Expo opened in Addis Ababa, Millennium Hall, yesterday in the presence of Girma Amente – Minister of Agriculture, Mesfin tafessew – CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, and Nega Mekuanint – Board Chairman of Ethiopian Horticulture Producers’ and Exporters’ Association (EHPEA).

Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) signed a memorandum or understanding with Tanabe Limited and Suntechno, Japanese companies, to recycle industrial park waste products.
The companies will start the recycling project in Hawassa Industrial Park within the next two months. If the pilot project is successful, it will be expanded to include other industrial parks and Government institutions. The companies are also expected to transfer skill and knowledge to Ethiopians while implementing the project.
