Ethiopia provided 58.01% of Kenya’s January import of electricity. The drought in Kenya forced the country to import a record 68.48 kilowatt-hours of power due to reduced local hydro-power generation. Ethiopia was able to gain USD 39.73 million from the export.

Coffee quality inspection and certification centers are expected to be opened in Jimma and Hawassa on April 6 and 11, respectively. According to the Ethiopian Tea and Coffee Authority (ETCA), coffee will be exported directly from the centers.

Hijra Bank agrees with Rays Micro Finance to utilize Sahaypay mobile money, the fastest growing mobile money system in Ethiopia. The customers of the two financial institutions will be able to transfer finance once the agreement starts being implemented. Rays Micro Finance implements Real Time Gross Settlement System (RTGS) to transfer money across banks.
Rays Microfinance Institution S.C. was established on in 2014. It finances goods, machineries, equipment, livestock trade, agriculture, construction, and small industries. Hijra Bank currently has 250,000 customers.
