Ethiopian Airlines Announces New Destinations to East Asia

Ethiopian Airlines announced expansion of its Asian network with the addition of three new destinations,Ho Chi Minh City, Manila and Seoul, as of June 18.

Ethiopian flights from Addis Ababa to Hong Kong will no longer need to stop in Bangkok; Hong Kong will now be served with a daily non-stop service from Addis Ababa instead of the current four-times-a-week flights routed through Bangkok, the airlines said.

IATA Delegation to Celebrate World Aviation Day in Ethiopia

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) delegation led by its director general and CEO, Tony Tyler, is set to visit Ethiopia this coming month.

The delegation will arrive in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on April 16 to celebrate World Aviation Day with executives of Ethiopian Airlines and officials of the Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority of Ethiopia. This would be for the first time for IATA to marks World Aviation Day in Ethiopia.

UAE's Falcon Oil Begins New Seismic Survey

The U.A.E based Falcon Petroleum Ltd is conducting a seismic survey of its Blue Nile Concession in Wereilu South Wollo Zone, Amhara National Regional State of Ethiopia.

Falcon Petroleum has contracted the Italian company,GeoDynamics Research to carry out the seismic survey. GeoDynamics is carrying out a passive seismic survey for the third time in Ethiopia. Previously the GeoDynamics had conducted two passive seismic surveys named Wereilu I and II.

Ethiopian MoI implements New Export Trade Incentive Directive

Ethiopian Ministry of Industry announced that it has put in effect the new export trade incentive directive.

Ministry Public Relations and Communication Directorate Director, Melaku Taye, told WIC, the new directive is aimed to help boost export trade performance.

Moreover, the new directive will also enables to give efficient service to the business community and allows them to create network among themselves, he said.

The new directive will also help to provide the necessary support to producers and exporters, he added.

Horticulture Exhibition Opens in Ethiopia

The Ethiopian Horticulture Producer Exporters Association (EHPEA) launched the 5th International Horti-Flora 2013 Exhibition at the Millennium Hall  on March 20 in Addis Ababa.

Association President Zelalem Melese said, the exhibition is a good platform to create market linkage, exchange ideas and develop new trends as well as discuss challenges and opportunities in the horticulture industry.

“This year, we would like to use the occasion to celebrate our successes and the growth that the industry has made in such a short span of time. Most of the credit goes to the government for its leadership in exploring market opportunities locally and at the international level as well. In the past two years, we have made great stride in the industry in terms of expanding the sub-sector,” Zelalem said.
