Infinix Ethiopia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Addis Ababa Tegbare Id Polytechnic College to strengthen collaboration between industry and academia through student internships, teacher training, and technology-based skill development programs.
The agreement was signed by Tesfaye Admasu (PhD), Dean of Tegbare Id Polytechnic College, and Guo ZhongLei, representing Transsion Manufacturing, the parent company of Infinix.
As part of the partnership, an Infinix Club will be established on campus to give students hands-on exposure to real world projects, innovation workshops, and mentorship opportunities. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical industry experience by engaging students in programs led by experts from Infinix and Transsion.
The MoU also provides for teacher training programs designed to keep instructors updated with emerging technologies and industry practices. Additionally, participating students will gain access to internship placements and employment opportunities within Infinix and Transsion Manufacturing.
Tesfaye Admasu (PhD) described the collaboration as an effort to “empower youth through education, innovation, and technology,” while Guo ZhongLei highlighted that the partnership would “connect academic learning with professional experience.”
Infinix, which has operated in Ethiopia for the past 14 years, is known for manufacturing smartphones. Tegbare Id Polytechnic College, one of Ethiopia’s oldest technical institutions with over 80 years of experience in engineering, technology, business, and applied sciences, said the collaboration marks a new step in linking education with employment.
