Ethiopia's Capital City Collects Over 12Bn Birr in Revenues in First Quarter of FY

addis-ababa-revenues-bureauEthiopia's capital Addis Ababa Revenues Bureau announced it has collected 12.26 billion birr in the first quarter of the Ethiopian fiscal year that started July 8, 2021. The collected amount exceeds the 11.59 billion birr collection plan for the period by five percent.

Mulugeta Tefera, Head of the Addis Ababa Revenues Bureau, said one of the significant factors that contributed to the achievement has been the expansion of the task base in the city. This, he noted, has enabled to include in the tax system members of the society that have hitherto not been paying taxes.

Compared to the same period last year, the three-month revenue collection of 12.26 billion birr has shown an increase of 40 percent.

During this Ethiopian fiscal year, the Addis Ababa Revenues Bureau plans to collect 48.5 billion birr.
