Ethiopian Postal Service Collects 230 Mn Birr in Six Months

The amount has been collected from handling over four million total mail traffic through the Ethiopian Postal Service's handling of letter post, parcel post, and EMS services.

Hanna AreyaSelassie, CEO of Ethiopian Postal Service Enterprise, told the media the enterprise has been undergoing various reform activities. The reform activities, she pointed out, have been aimed at modernizing work, optimizing operations, as well as providing customers with fast and effective service. The reform activities entailed restructuring the institutional setup, minimizing cost, and paying off outstanding debts.

Mrs. Hanna further noted, in collaboration with the Ethiopian Ministry of Innovation and Technology and others such as the German Ministry of Economy and Energy, the enterprise has been working to implement Ethiopia's e-commerce working procedures. To this end, they have been working with Universal Postal Union (UPU), according to the CEO.

Via the delivery of products with reduced intermediaries, Ethiopian Postal Service Enterprise has been working to create more local and international market opportunities for small and medium enterprises, Mrs. Hanna related. She also pointed out that the enterprise has been engaged in diversified services such as passenger bus transport, logistics and moving, financial services, and distribution of goods.

Ethiopian Postal Service Enterprise handles outgoing mail to close to 90 countries and has an expansive network of 900 branches throughout Ethiopia.
