Ethiopia's Ministry of Mining and Petroleum announced it will be entering joint venture agreements with various local and international companies to avail state-of-the-art mining laboratories and melting machinery.
Takele Uma, Minister of Mining and Petroleum, said setting up such laboratories and machinery is "a priority area" for the sector. This, he said, will have "paramount significance in supporting the progress of the homegrown economy."
The minister made the remark after visiting the Ethiopian Geological Survey Laboratory. Pointing out the laboratory "has not witnessed a remarkable progress" despite its long age, he said, “reinforcing competence of the institute with required workforce and latest technologies will help the country add values to mining export and save foreign currency.”
