Ethiopia Saved $2.8 Mn in Logisitcs in 2019/20

Ethiopia has saved $2.8 million during the fiscal year that ended on July 7, 2020, Dagmawit Moges, Ethiopia's Minister of Transport said. This, she related, is due to a reform undertaken to improve the logistics sector.

Due to the reform carried out, Mrs. Dagimawit said, the logistics service has been significantly improved in efficiency, which has lessened the prolonged time spent ships spend docked at seaports, down to 17 days from 22 days previously.

Moreover, the Minister said, locally packed freights to be transported via the port of Djibouti have risen to 51 percent from 33 percent.

In collaboration with all stakeholders in the sector, Mrs. Dagmawit explained, a synchronized system has been established with industrial parks to facilitate export trade.

“The logistic reform targeted on developing a much-integrated system in all industrial parks so as to create market access to export trade and strengthening mutual communication,” she said.
