New Salt Plant Begins Operations in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia

An iodized salt processing plant, Soda King Factory, has gone operational in Dire Dawa Industry Zone, Ethiopia, with a capital of 150 million birr ($4.5 million).

Muhdin Fukrdin, Soda King Factor's CEO, speaking at the inauguration ceremony, said the factory is will produce 50 quintals of iodized salt per day. The plant now employs 120 workers, he further noted.

Ahmed Mohammed, Deputy Mayor of Dire Dawa City, said his administration has been "exerting integrated efforts" to make Dire Dawa an industrial hub of of eastern Ethiopia.
