Ethiopian Airlines’ Five Star Hotel to Commence Operation

Ethiopian Airlines announced that its five star hotel, which is being built with the objectives of accommodating transit passengers and promoting stopover tourism, would commence operating in two months time, upon completion of its first phase construction.

According to Ato Tewolde Gebremariam, the Airline’s Group CEO, the first phase of the hotel will accommodate 373 cozy rooms when it begins service.

In a recent press release, the airline has announced that it has gained a net profit of ETB 6.8 billion (USD 233 million) in the 2017/18 fiscal year. It also has introduced fourteen new aircrafts, opened eight new international destinations namely Geneva (Switzerland), Chicago (USA), Bahrain, Kaduna (Nigeria), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Kisangani and Mbuji-Mayi (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Nosy-Be (Madagascar), and transported a record of 10.6 million passengers to more than 116 international and domestic destinations in the same fiscal year.

During the fiscal year, the airline was given for the first time in its history, a 4 star rating by SKYTRAX, the leading customer service rating organization in the airline industry, putting it on par with other global airlines. SKYRAX also recognized Ethiopian as Best Airline in Africa: Best Business Class in Africa and Best Economy Class in Africa.
