United Bank had had launched Visa card service two weeks ago, Addis Fortune reported.

United has joined the other 10 banks in Ethiopia to include Visa card in its services.

Taye Dibekulu, President of United Bank, said: “The Visa card system is launched in line with the increasing tourist flow in Ethiopia.”

Holder of Visa card can withdraw 1,000 dollars a day.

According to Taye, United Bank had secured its principal membership of Visa, a multinational financial services corporation four years ago. It had taken us four years to fulfill the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCIDSS) get certified for the service.

United Bank was founded in 1998 with paid up capital of 20.9 million Birr and 335 shareholders. The Bank’s current paid up capital is 974.7 million Birr and its shareholders peaked to 2800.
