China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Company that had undertaken the power supply project to the Addis Ababa Light Rail Transit (AA-LRT) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia had guaranteed dependable power supply to the light rail project, Xinhua reported.

The company had completed the Gas Insulated Substations (GISs) that was intended to extend power to the AA-LRT.

Yesterday, September 15, 2015, the Chinese company and officials from the Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) paid a visit to the Kality area GIS substations in Addis Ababa.

Other GIS substations are located in Ayat, Menelik Square, Egziabher-Ab Church and in Torhayloch areas.

According to Deputy General Manager of China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co. Chen Wei, in spite of the very limited time given to the company, it has managed to pull its resources and extended power to the light rail system on time.

China Railway Group (CREC) had undertaken the 32 km length of the electrified railway project in Addis Ababa with USD 475 million.
