The Yabelo-Metagefersa road project has been completed and it is now open for traffic this week, said Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA).

Samson Wondimu, Communication Director at ERA, told Walta Information Center (WIC) the Yabelo-Metagefersa gravel road is 30 kilometers long.

A local contractor named Shade General Contractor had undertaken the construction along with Transnational Engineers Company that was entrusted with the consultancy and monitoring activities, he said. A capital of 90 million Birr was invested for the road construction, he added.

Samson said the Yabelo-Metagefersa links with the main route of Mombassa-Nairobi-Addis Ababa road. The road will join SNNP, Oromiya and Somali regional States of Ethiopia and expected to boost import-export trade with neighboring nations, he indicated.
