The House of Peoples’ Representatives (HPR) on Monday, July, 07, 2015, approved 223.3 billion Birr budget for the 2015/16 budget year, Ethiopian News Agency reported.
As compared to the preceding year budget, this year’s increased by 20 percent.
According to Budget and Finance Affairs Standing Committee Chairperson, Meselech Wodajo, out of the total budget, 62.5% will be accorded to the federal government. The remaining 37.5 percent will be set aside for Regional States and the two City Administrations.
She further explained 84 billion Birr of the budget was designated for capital and 50 billion Birr for regular expenditure.
71 percent of the federal government’s budget will be assigned for road, water, education, agricultural and rural electrification projects spending, she added.
