Ethiopia: Yangfan Motors to Launch New Assembly Plant

lifanYangfan Motors PLC., a Chinese car assembly company is to launch its latest US$ 4.5 Million plant will be launched in Ethiopia, Fortune reported.

 

The plant is located at the Eastern Industry Zone in Dukem Town.

The company has the capacity of only assembling six cars a day, however, with the inauguration of the new plant, the company will boost its assembling capacity to 16 cars a day.

It was following an agreement made on June 23, 2013 that the new facility was realized by Yangfan. According to the general manager of Lifan Motors Ethiopia, Liu Jiang, the new facility has the advantage of taking the company’s status from semi-knockdown to completely knockdown assembly.

The new facility has costed the company US$ 4.5 Million for the customized building and US$ 800,000 for the machinery. According the plant manager, Semer’ab Sereke, the plant has a total space of 10,780 square meters, computerized wheel alignment, an assembly system, test lines and a professional test drive road.

The new plant is expected to push the company’s capacity form 1000 cars to 5000 cars per annum.
