Ethiopia's Omo Kuraz Sugar Project Created 6000 Jobs

The Omo Kuraz sugar development project in Ethiopia has reportedly created jobs for  more than six thousand residents of the of the area, according to Nuredin Asaro, General Manager of Omo Kuraz sugar development project.

The project comprises the construction of five of the 10 sugar factories planned to be built across the country by the end of the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP) period.

Sugarcane multiplying laboratory has been constructed at a cost of 1 billion Ethiopian birr and the laboratory is expected to go operational this year.

Construction of three villages for the resettlement of 20,000 pastoralists is underway.  Human and animal clinics and potable water facilities, including flour mills are also built at the resettlement sites, Nuredin added.
