The Ethiopian Geological Survey is set to enhance the country’s geological mapping coverage to 80 percent by 2015. Tolossa Shagi Moti, State Minister of Mines,said at a stakeholders’ consultative meeting, held on 5 July 2013 at the Ghion Hotel, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Under the five year Growth and Transformation Plan, the Ethiopian Geological Survey will increase the
coverages of gravity survey, hydro-geological mapping and engineering geology.
Ethiopian Geological Survey conducts minerals exploration work and collects vital information on minerals, ground water, engineering geology and geo-hazards.
The organization is working with the South Korean, Czech Republic, Chinese and Japanese governments on capacity building projects.
The Ethiopian Geological Survey is a government agency tasked with providing geological data, laboratory testing and consultancy service to governmental organizations and private companies.
