Ethio Telecom is to change it logo to one that better expresses the company and reflects its role in the country said Dr. Debretsion Gebremichael, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Information and Communication.

The current logo introduced early last year is also similar in design although different in color to the logo used by European company, Euroclean which makes the change desirable he noted.

The similarity in design is probably the most important reason why Ethio-telecom is changing its logo according to sources. The new logo is in the process of development and the telecom provider will soon decide how it will go about making the change said Abdurahim Ahmed, Head of Corporate Communication with Ethio-Telecom.

It is to be remembered that the current logo was introduced under the management of France Telecom last year at an event held at the Sheraton Addis Hotel. The design was promoted as reflecting the new character of the telecom corporation and the role that it expected to play in the development of the country.

The management contract the France-Telecom had expired last month after two and half years and was not renewed. Ethio-Telecom is back under local management as of the New Year.
