French Business Delegation Visits Ethiopia

A Delegation of French business paid a two day visit to Ethiopia. The delegates represented firms interested in involving in the country’s transport and power sector.  

The delegation consisted of fifteen companies representing several sub-sectors including machinery and equipment, urban development,  Infrastructure, energy, transportation and logistics, engineering, high technology, services to government and international trade, insurance and law firms.

The business delegation met with Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn,and held in depth discussions on the development policies and strategies adopted by the country.

The delegation’s understanding of current business trends in Ethiopia was enhanced by the meeting with the Prime Minister said Dominique Lafont, president and CEO of Bollore Africa Logistics, President of the French Business Council for Eastern Africa and head of the delegation.

The delegation was also able to hold extensive discussions with Ethiopian enterprises including the Ethiopian Railway Corporation, Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation, Ethiopian Railway Corporation, the European Union Business Forum, Metal and Engineering Corporation,  Ethiopian Airlines, Metal and Engineering Corporation, and the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations.

Deriba Kuma, Minister of Transport, also meet with the delegation to discuss various features of transportation projects including the railway project. The plan for the railway project between Djibouti and Addis Ababa needs to be handled by a single contractor and discussions were held in this regard with the delegates, according to the Minister of Transport.
