Airbus Marketing Aircraft to Ethiopian Airlines

Airbus is marketing more Airbus aircraft to Ethiopian Airlines, Ethiopia’s flag carrier it was learned.

The aircraft manufacturer has presented the A330 aircraft for the management team at Ethiopian according to executives with Airbus.

Ethiopian Airlines is in the process of evaluating the aircraft after a technical team from Airbus made a presentation to senior airline officials in November of last year said Crawford Hamilton, Director of the A330 program with Airbus.

The A330 is a good long range aircraft and Ethiopian Airlines has proven to be a reliable customer so the manufacturer sees this as a good match he noted.

Airbus has received more than 1100 orders for the A330 line with above 780 aircraft are in operation with about 118 customers across the globe. The A330 line includes passenger, freight, military and VIP aircraft. The A330 passenger craft is able to carry 335 passengers while the freighter can transport 70 tons.     

It is to be remembered that Ethiopian airlines has ordered 12 A350XWB Airbus aircraft valued at 3 billion dollars as part of its bid to acquire a mixed fleet. The A350XWB is a new line of wide body aircraft that competes with the Dreamliner aircraft put out by Boeing. It is expected that Airbus will deliver the first A350s to Ethiopian in 2017.
