The Modjo-Beki-Batu expressway, built at a cost of some 6.3 billion birr, has officially begun operations. The 92km long and 32m wide expressway, having five international standard tolling stations, is the third toll road for Ethiopia, after the Addis Ababa-Adama, and the Dire Dawa-Dewale expressways.
Preparations are underway to launch the construction work on the 4-lane dual carriageway Modjo-Hawassa highway project, Walta Information Center reported citing the Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA).
The Ministry of Finance and Economic Cooperation of Ethiopia declared that it is engaged in a detailed research for 50 potential projects for Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) with the assistance of the World Bank Group (WBG).
The Ministry of Finance and Economic Cooperation (MoFEC) of Ethiopia tabled a budget of 346.9 billion birr at the parliament for the 2018/19 budget year.
Ethiopia’s Ministry of Finance and Economic Cooperation (MoFEC) disclosed it has spent USD 3 billion for different projects undertaken in the first 9 months of the current fiscal year. Nonetheless, the Ministry’s plan was to finance USD 3.7 billion USD worth projects during the said period.
