The Ministry of Trade (MoT) formed a technical committee to conduct a preliminary assessment to revise the Ethiopian StandardIndustrial Classification (ESIC). The classification is primarily used to avoid overlapping responsibilities and ease the process of registering business activities at government offices. Issues related with professional competency certifying bodies, newly added codes, and overlaps in coding and classification are some of the basic reasons that led the Ministry to revise the clarification for the second time.
Ethiopia’s Ministry of Trade is going to commence business registration and licensing services online. The Ministry is taking such path in response to good governance problems witnessed in the sector.
The service will enable customers of the Ministry to get registration and licensing services from wherever they are.

The Ministry of Transport and Logistics and TradeMark Africa agreed to modernize Ethiopia’s freight services with a view to facilitating import and export trade.
Korea Expressway Corporation concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ethiopia’s Ministry of Transport. It was Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Korea, Shiferaw Jarso, that signed the MoU on behalf of the Ethiopian Government on March 30, 2016.
