Ethiopia: Mobile Phone Application for Fuel Payment Launched

Nedaj Mobile PhoneA mobile phone application called Nedaj was launched on Saturday after an agreement was inked between the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) and EagleLion Systems Technology Company. The agreement was signed by Dahlak Yigezu, CBE’s Digital Banking Vice President and Besufikad Getachew, CEO of EagleLion.

The application which will allow customers to carry out fuel transactions digitally is expected to establish a convenient and fast payment system. Vehicle owners and gas stations can use the service by installing the application on their mobile phones and connecting it to CBE-Birr, a mobile banking service streamed by CBE.

According to Besufikad Getachew, “it is possible to upgrade the mobile phone application, which has great importance to vehicle owners, gas stations, and fuel regulatory bodies, by modernizing our country’s fuel marketing”.
