The Ethiopian Development Research Institute urged policy makers and practitioners to help infant micro and small manufacturing enterprises gain access to finance, market, and work space. The institute issued a baseline survey report titled “Main Features of Micro and small Manufacturing Enterprises in Ethiopia” which was conducted on manufacturing MSEs operating in 10 large cities. The authors of the report selected 8,174 samples from the total enterprises found in these cities.
Inflation declined in Ethiopia to 13.7 percent despite the price uplift in clothing, footwear, house repair and maintenance equipment.
According to the Central Statistical Agency (CSA), the previous month (March) inflation declined by 1.5 percent as a result of price fall for food items that showed a 3.9 percent drop. Non-food inflation had a modest rise of 0.8 percent.
Ethiopia’s year-on-year inflation rate fell to 7.5 percent in March from 8.9 percent in February, Central Statistics Agency (CSA) announced.
Food and non-food inflation rates dropped to 7.3 percent and 7.8 percent respectively in March. The data for February shows food inflation rate was 9.2 percent while non-food inflation rate was 8.5 percent.
