Ethiopia’s first industrial park, Hawassa Industrial Park, is scheduled to be inaugurated on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Located 275 kilometers south of the capital, the industrial park is expected to create job opportunities for 60,000 people in 2 shifts. The Park is expected to host textile and garment manufacturing factories.
7,600 people are set to be hired at Hawassa Industrial Park, Ethiopia’s first industrial park. The news was disclosed by South Nation Nationalities and Peoples State (SNNP) Trade and Industry Development Bureau.
Hawassa’s Investment Promotion Bureau has granted investment licenses to 12 local investors with a combined registered capital of Birr 4.6 billion in various sectors during the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
Hawassa is to host a continental conference on post harvest and agro-processing starting from June 24-26, 2015, Ethiopian News Agency reported.
With a view to doubling its African portfolio in order to tap growing visits by both African and Chinese travelers, Hayatt Hotels Corp is planning to open its first hotel by the end of 2018 in Ethiopia. In October, Hayatt Corp said it would invest an estimated USD 200 million to open new hotels in Africa.
