Ministry of Finance issued an invitation for expression of interest today to partially privatize Ethio Telecom. The company which will win the bid will own 40% of the equity share capital of Ethio Telecom and join the Ethiopian telecom market alongside Ethio Telecom and Safaricom.
Ethiopia is planning to set up an agency for the Diaspora with a view of improving the general participations of Ethiopian Diaspora. Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ (MoFA) Spokesperson Meles Alem said the decision to establish the agency showed the government’s special attention for the Diaspora community.

Governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia, Yinager Dessie (PhD), announced that the draft Security Right Proclamation would be implemented soon. The Proclamation will allow individuals and companies to borrow from banks by registering their movable assets as security.
With a view to sustaining the ongoing development, the Ethiopian government is set to establish 7,800 small and medium scale manufacturing industries. Metal and wood work, textile and garment, leather and leather products, agro processing, and construction inputs are some of the industries which are planned to be set up by the government.
