Ethiopia: George Shoe Corporation to Set Up New Plant

Ethiopia’s largest dam project, Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), is set to start generating hydroelectric power in the current fiscal year as it has now reached 62 percent completion rate.
Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) installed capacity has been increase by 450 megawatts following improvements made on the design. This increase the dam’s total installed capacity to 6450 megawatts.

The Abay Dam is nearing completion, with significant progress on both electricity generation and the overall project.
Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), Ethiopia’s largest dam upon completion, has reached a height of 75 meters. It now has a total height of 145 meters and it is more than halfway completed.
Intensive work is being done to complete the dam as per the schedule, Engineer Simegnew Bekele, Project Manager of the dam, said.
