The Abay Dam is nearing completion, with significant progress on both electricity generation and the overall project.

The construction for electricity generation will be finished within seven months. Civil work for the dam is 99% complete, with only 1% remaining for the primary dam structure's concrete filling (107 million cubic meters). Turbine and generator installation is 78% complete, with two 375-megawatt units already installed.

Despite challenges, dam construction has remained on track, with water transfer structures exceeding 85% completion. The entire project is currently 95% finished, with the Nile River bridge construction slated for completion next year.

The foundation stone for the dam was laid on March 24, 2003, and the 13th anniversary of construction will be celebrated in two weeks.
