On Saturday, August 2, 2014, Ethiopia hosted an experts’ seminar at the UN Economic Commission for Africa to assess the establishment of a Regional Development Bank (RDB) for Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD). The seminar was organized by the Horn Economic and Social policy Institute (HESPI) and IGAD.
ET Switch SC, company established by the banks in Ethiopia and the National Bank of Ethiopia, disclosed it completed transactions worth 1,175,089,410 Birr since it commenced service in May 2016. The company also noted its performance is challenged by high transaction decline rate of 40 percent per month due to connection failure and system failure in its member banks.
The Ethiopian Ministry of Mines and Energy said, over 8.6 million liters of ethanol has been blended with gasoline and supplied to local market over the concluded Ethiopian Fiscal Year.
Public relation and communication Director with the Ministry, Bizuneh Tolcha told Ethiopian News Agency that supply of increasing amount of ethanol blended gasoline has enabled the country to save US$7.6 million.
