The Ethio - Djibouti Railway S.C. (EDR) has upgraded its online booking system for both unimodal and multimodal cargo services, in a move aimed at accelerating digital transformation along the Ethiopia - Djibouti transport corridor.

The improvement was announced by EDR Chief Executive Officer Takele Uma, who described the development as an important milestone in the effort to build a fully digital logistics corridor between the two countries.

With the upgrade, all import and export cargo handled through the railway is now processed through EDR’s digital online platform. The new system replaces earlier procedures and is expected to improve operational efficiency across cargo handling services.

The platform also incorporates secure online payment and authentication verification features, allowing clients to complete transactions and confirm cargo processing digitally.

The transition is also expected to strengthen real-time cargo tracking and traceability, giving customers better visibility over shipments throughout the logistics chain.

The latest development is part of EDR’s broader modernization agenda to improve the reliability, transparency, and overall efficiency of cargo operations along the Ethiopia - Djibouti trade corridor.
