Addis Ababa City Roads Authority (AACRA) has concluded contracts with 5 different local contractors for the construction of 11.7 kilometers asphalt roads in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa. The contracts are worth a total of 878 million Birr.
The Addis Ababa City Roads Authority (AACRA) has built 255 km of road during the first half of the 2013/14 fiscal year, achieving 54.4% of the total asphalt, gravel and cobblestone roads planned for the fiscal year, Fortune reported.
The Addis Ababa City Roads Authority is to launch the construction of the road stretching from St. George Church to 18 Mazoria in Kolefe Keranio District and the road from Inter-city Bus terminal to Lideta Church, in October 2013.
The Authority will award contracts this month. The road projects are scheduled to be completed in a year period, Fekade Haile, general manager of the Authority told Fortune.
The Addis Ababa Light Rail Project (AALRP) performed electro-mechanical trial on the Meskel Sqaure – Kality corridor.
Addis Ababa Light Rail Transit (AALRT) is set to official start trial operation in a month time, February 2015.
