Ethiopia: Addis Ababa City Council Approves Birr 350 Billion Budget

The Addis Ababa City Council, in its 4th regular session now on its second day, has approved the city’s 2025/26 fiscal year budget totaling Birr 350.13 billion, a 45 percent increase, or Birr 108 billion more than last year.
The Addis Ababa City Hall has been renovated after 57 years at a cost of 2.2 billion birr, while maintaining its original design and looks.
Addis Ababa Water and Sewerage Authority (AAWSA) signed a $490,000 project agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) aimed at strengthening AAWSA's capacity to reduce water dispensation without revenue generation.
