A road research center (RRC), which serves Eastern and Central Africa, is being built in Addis Ababa by Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA).

According to Habtamu Tegegne, the authority’s Director General, the project costs birr 400 million. He said the centre will help to solve road related problems and generate new ideas and technologies that improve the road infrastructure in Ethiopia.

The construction of the center started in 2016 and the civil works of the project are completed. It is expected to be fully completed within eight months. The future center rests on 132,000 square meters at the place where the temporary RRC is currently found.
