The Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority disclosed plans to build a coffee park at a cost of $50 million. The park, the authority said, will play an important role in promoting Ethiopia's coffee to the global community.
A foundation stone for an eighth dry port has been laid in Wereta, South Gondar zone of the Amhara regional state, by the Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Services Enterprise.
Ethiopia is to build a 250 kilometer high way connecting between Dire Dawa and Dewale it was announced. The road project, currently in the design stage is expected to upgrade the current gravel road to asphalt creating another alternative access to a sea port.
The road is particularly important in light of the fact the Ethiopia handles 98 percent of its export and import freight through Port Djibouti. It is also expected that a new port intended to be constructed in Tadjoura will increase the congestion at this port thus facilitating the trade though Djibouti.Ethiopia is set to construct another university which it dubbed Borena University. The university is going to be located in Borena Zone, Oromia State.
The Metal Engineering Corporation the Privatization and Public Enterprises Agency of Ethiopia signed an agreement to construct five fertilizer factories at a total cost of 55 billion birr. The agreement was signed by Beyene Gebre-Meskel, Director General of PPESA and Col. Mulu Wolde-Gabriel Project management Deputy Director with Metal Engineering.
The agreement will allow for the construction of five urea and three Dap fertilizer plants and one coal factory said Col. Mulu. The construction will be completed within three years with the Urea factories being launched first and the others to be established according to a schedule said Beyene.
