The Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority has announced that Ethiopia has signed air service agreements with 11 countries. The agreement was signed at the 4th International Civil Aviation Negotiation Conference which held place in Mumbai.

Ethiopia will gain a range of benefits from the agreements including in the areas of investment, trade and tourism according to Endeshaw Yigezu Authority Air Transport Planning Directorate and Delegation Head.

Ethiopia signed an agreement to cooperate in air services with Singapore last week according to the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority.

The Air Services Agreement will enable airlines from both countries to operate specified numbers of cargo and passenger flights between Ethiopia and Singapore as well as to other countries.

The agreement was signed by Getachew Mengeste, Ethiopian State Minister for Transport and Josephine Teo, State Minister for Finance and Transport, Singapore.

Ethiopia signed an Air Service bilateral agreement with Portugal last week. The two countries initially signed the agreement on December 7, 2016 in Bahamas during the 9th International Civil Aviation Negotiation. The accord is aimed at boosting aviation services in the two countries.

Ethiopia and Chad signed a bilateral agreement to work in collaboration in the aviation and air transport sector. The signing ceremony was held in Montreal, Canada, where the 41st Conference of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is being held.

Chad’s Minister of Civil Aviation and National Meteorology who attended the signing ceremony stated that the agreement was commendable and would enable the two countries to work together on air transport control and security systems.

Ethiopia also signed a memorandum of understanding with Turkey which would facilitate the flight of wide-body aircraft between Addis and Istanbul.

It was reported that Ethiopia was entering agreements on the aviation and air transport sector at the ICAO conference in Montreal.

The Ethiopian Ministry of Water and Energy signed agreements with Chinese and British companies for the implementation of a solar energy project. The contract with Chinese Poly technologies is worth 208 million birr while the contract signed with Yoseph and Elizabeth International Trading plc is worth 10 million birr.

The agreement was signed by Alemayehu Tegenu, State Minister for Water and Energy, Xie Xiaoyan, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Cheng Zerong, Vice President of Poly Technologies and Yoseph Getachew, Managing Director Of YEIT plc.

The contract allows for 25,000 solar home systems with different capacities ranging from 8 watts to 130 watts to facilitate rural electrification to power domestic uses said Alemayehu speaking on the occasion.
