Ethiopia Issues Mineral Exploration, Production Licenses to 12 Companies
Ethiopia's Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has issued mineral exploration and production licenses to 12 companies. The companies have a combined capital of $11.17 million (402 million birr).

The Ethiopian government has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the partial privatization of Ethio Telecom, Ethiopia's state-owned and so far sole telecom services provider. The RFP is extended to all interested parties "who can add value to the company by bringing in best practices in terms of operations, infrastructure management and next-generation technological capabilities."
The Ethiopian Communications Authority (ECA) published a Request For Proposals (RFP) for its second new full‐service telecommunications license in Ethiopia, inviting both international and national telecommunications companies to take part in the sealed bidding process. This second license will include Mobile Financial Services and additional spectrum allocation and will have revised pre‐qualification criteria to include participation from a wide range of international and national telecommunications operators.
