Ethiopia's Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has granted licenses for six companies that have completed the required preparations and mine exploration. The companies have signed agreements with the ministry upon issuance of the licenses.
Three Ethiopian companies have been granted licenses to offer multimodal transport services, marking a significant step towards a more robust logistics sector in the country.
The Privatization and Public Supervising Agency (PPESA) was scheduled to hand over the management of Tepi 
Coffee Plantation to Green Coffee Agro Industry Plc on 3 October 2011 after the latter bought 51 percent of the shares in the plantation.
Green Plc had paid 111.3 million, 25percent of the shares it bought, two months ago. The 10,000 hectare plantation rests in two regional states, with 32 percent in the Gambella Regional State and the rest in Southern Nations Nationalities Regional State.
Ethiopia harvested 3.2 million quintals of coffee from Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ State (SNNP). Such was disclosed by Coffee, Tea and Spices Authority.
Ethiopia harvested above 218.5 million quintals over the main harvest season according to the Central Statistical Agency. The Ministry of Agriculture had targeted to harvest 205 million quintals of crops based on the projections made by the agency earlier in the year.
The crop yield was scientifically calculated from a sample of 2,273 taken from across the country said Samiya Zekariya, Head of the Agency.
The harvest is the total production of smallholder farmers and represents a growth of 7.4% annual growth in comparison to the same harvest period last year. The farmers were able to farm more than 12.8 million hectares of land to produce the current harvest with an average productivity of 18 quintals per hectare.
