The Ministry of Mines revealed that Ethiopia received USD 560 million from gold during the 2021/2022 fiscal year.

The Ministry stated that four districts in the Agnwak and Meghenger Zones of Gambella Regional State were being developed for the extraction of gold. Gambella, Benishangul Gumuz, Oromia, and South West Ethiopia are known for their gold resources. Gambella Regional State’s Akobo narrow greenstone sub-belt is labeled a high potential target for gold exploration by the Ministry of Mines.

Gold mining in Ethiopia is believed to be 3,500 years old even though mineral exploration began in the country in the late 1890’s by foreign companies.

Ethiopia’s Industrial Parks Development Corporation said the nation has obtained over $152.76 million from exports of industrial park products in nine months.

Ethiopia has been officially added to China’s list of approved soybean exporters, a move that deepens bilateral trade and investment ties between the two countries. Announced by China Customs and reported by News Central, the decision grants Ethiopian soybeans access to the world’s largest soybean market.

The Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration (MoTRI) has recently announced that the country has generated USD 1.53 billion in revenue from agricultural, manufacturing, and mining exports.This amount represents a substantial portion of the targeted $2.39 billion earnings within a six-month period.

The Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration announced that Ethiopia was able to gain USD 1.75 billion from exports during the first half of the 2022/2023 fiscal year.
